The Best Winter Sangria
While we typically think of sangria as a refreshing summertime cocktail, there's no reason we can't enjoy it in the colder months, too! Spicy and warm, this winter sangria recipe is the perfect solution for entertaining this season.
The Ingredients
1 bottle of Spanish wine (we like a full-bodied Tempranillo)
1 cup pomegranate juice
1/4 cup Grand Marnier
1/3 cup bourbon
3/4 cup ginger ale
2 tbsp honey
2 sticks of cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
1 orange, halved and sliced
1 apple, diced
1 lime, sliced
Rosemary, for garnish
The Tools
Large pitcher
Long mixer or spoon
Stemless wine glasses
The Process
1. In a large pitcher, combine pomegranate juice, grand mariner, bourbon, honey, cinnamon, pomegranate seeds, orange, apple, and lime. Stir to combine.
2. Pour in entire bottle of red wine.
3. Cover and place in refrigerator for 1-2 hours. (The longer it sits, the more flavorful!)
4. Before serving, add ginger ale to sangria mixture. Stir to combine.
5. Serve chilled. (Optional: add cinnamon stick, lime, and rosemary for garnish.)
